Interview prep blog
- Research on the organization by visiting their website. Important information to note includes the sector the firm operates in, the leadership i.e. name of CEO, organization values, share price if the firm is listed on the NSE.
- Highlight your strengths [team work, agility, problem solving etc.] and identify areas that you are working on - recruiters are able to gauge the level of self awareness which speaks to your EQ. The best way to highlight the strengths is to indicate how or where you developed them. i.e. Through AIESEC, I have learnt how to manage projects and work as a team.
- Use the STAR method to respond to scenario based questions. What was the Situation, Task, Action and Result ensuring that you highlight your contribution even in team related activities. An example of a scenario based question is ' Describe a time when you had to manage conflict with a team member?'
- In the event that you do not know or are not sure of an answer to an interview question, always respond with the truth. You could say ' I am not sure but I'd be willing to research on that'. This demonstrates your willingness to learn as well as your level of integrity. Do not lie. You will eventually be found out and sabotage your chances of securing the job.
